Mila Renault
"Mila Renault is a watercolour artist, drawer and architect that immigrated from Brazil to New Zealand in 2017. https://www.milarenault.com"
Art has been the antidote for her mental well-being on this journey of moving countries and leaving family. She has painted her childhood and adolescence and even taught
watercolour classes while doing her Architectural and Urban Design Bachelor in São Paulo. Life and Motherhood took over and when she moved countries, she felt the urge to start from scratch on a Blank paper. While settling her children at school and life in
New Zealand she started doing plein air sketches that evolved to plein-air paintings in watercolour , and studio practice. Art has changed the perception of the local environment and culture. Through her art she has galvanised her sense of belonging.
Both Brazil and New Zealand have a stunning natural and constructed environment that Mila but mainly she has used Aoetearoa as inspiration these last few years. She also
finds joy and beauty in mundane scenes of characters of daily life.
Her artwork has been collected in New Zealand, Brazil and other countries like Australia and Portugal. She is a resident artist at Deciduus and Santie Gallerry where
she hold private exhibition and group. As well as group exhibition at Te Taunga Community Hub called Toró Brazil it’s all so much.
“Every day I ask myself if what I am doing may touch people and what I can do to improve my
skills and expressiveness. I want my art to make people feel happier and be more aware of the divine in nature.”
In this way, her artwork has found a home in many people's hearts both in New Zealand and Brazil but also is
being collected in America , Canada, Ireland, Portugal and Australia.
