Photographing your work

This is the image that the judging panel will use to select the winning artworks, so make sure the image shows the whole artwork and that colours are as close to the original piece as possible.

A good tip for taking pictures of your work is to take it outside in natural light on a cloudy day which can avoid shadow and light reflection. The artwork should be flat on the ground, with the camera held above it at exactly at a 90-degree angle to the ground. Make sure both the camera and the photographer aren’t casting any shadows on the artwork below. Also, the lens angle should not be too wide so as to distort the image.

Selected Artists

Selected artists will be contacted by IWS NZ by 31th October 2023, and arrangements will be made for original artworks to be delivered to IWS NZ for the exhibition and prize giving event, on 21 Nov 2023. Please note, IWS NZ is unable to contact all participants, so you will only be contacted if your work is selected.
